Cure me (CURCUMIN) & Turn me (TURMERIC) healthy!

Curcumin or turmeric is a common spice! It is used throughout different cultures and countries for prevention and healing-especially for inflammation! Curcumin is the principle curcuminoid found in turmeric and this is its most active ingredient. Curcumin has been found to be useful for cancer patients, alzheimer's diseases, gastrointestinal health, and arthritis.

It's function is that of an anti-oxidant and anti inflammatory agent which aids in cell apoptosis as as well as reducing oxidative damage. To enhance absorption, turmeric should be taken with food. Turmeric is often paired with black pepper or piperine because that has been helpful with absorption.

For kids you can add turmeric into food such as soup, stir fry, or mixed vegetables. It stains easily so make sure it does not spill on clothes or counter tops. For adults I often recommend a supplement of turmeric in capsule form- my favorite brand is Mereva and I recommend 500mg twice per day.

You can also trial a turmeric tea often called golden milk tea that many kids enjoy!
